Schaalkabaal: a unique and large-scale intervention on the construction site of Leidsche Rijn Centrum situated in Utrecht. The construction-site came to life on a special choreography of light and sounds, inspired by current building activities. Construction sites are often considered as annoying, Schaalkabaal gave a playful twist to the construction site and created positive attention towards something normally perceived as disturbing. In collaboration with local authorities of Utrecht and developer A.S.R. Real Estate we realized this once-off production; more than 700 people visited Schaalkabaal.
With Schaalkabaal we really want to show the impressiveness of a construction site and present the citizens the beauty of these kind of places.
With large curled, mirror panels and a gigantic discobol, the construction site became a once-off and unique celebration.
