We transformed hotelroom 14 of the H2OTEL into an interactive space, inspired by the painting Door to the River made by the famous painter Willem de Kooning in 1960. The Kooning was better known by his nickname The King of Canvas. Although he was a big painter, he didn’t always finish his paintings. So that raises the question; when is an art piece finished? This question became the starting point for our design.
King of Canvas
The spatial composition in hotelroom 14 is constantly changing and never 'finished'. Hotel guests can create a new composition themselves by moving the magnetic graphic color shapes throughout the room, looking for their own composition.
